Christmas Party - 2013

Cherri was the lucky first one to pick a gift in our annual gift exchange. What a lovely scarf made by Barbara! Cherri needed the scarf this week as our temperatures dropped to the low 20s.

Jatana came all the way from Austin and look at the great gifts she received from Darlene.
Sandy guarded her gifts from Cathy like her life depended on it!
Cherri and Kay admire the beautiful blown glass ornaments that Debbie received from Jatana!
Louise got a load of neat stuff!
Bea looks warm in her bright red scarf from Evelyn.
Barbara received a really beautiful quilt from Bea! But is was gone in the blink of an eye!
Barbara had to give up her quilt to Dee.
Not to fear . . . she got some lovely gifts from Jewell.
Evelyn got this beauty of a table topper.
Cathy got these beautiful pillow 'slips' (that is pillow 'cases' to all of us but Sandy). These were made by Sandy. This one is for fall.
This one is for spring!
Sue got a DVD - The Life of Pi - a great movie.
Jewell is busy opening her gift.
Dee came all the way from Canada and got fat quarters and home made ornaments from Debbie.
Darlene got one of those terrific lights from Ikea! We love those lights!
Oops, Cathy stole from Dee.
Louise stole from Evelyn.
Evelyn had to pick again!
Billie got the neat quilt rack from Cherri and some home canned goodies!
Cathy wearing her fat quarters so no one will steal them. Glad she didn't put them down her pants, although she did threaten to do that in order to keep them!!
Last but not least, Kay was the last to pick since Cherri decided to keep her first choice gift.
Can't say I know what is so funny, but we all had lots of laughs, as always/
Jatana looked very festive in her lights and top-knot!
Jewell gave Barbara the quilt Barbara lost! We all were teary-eyed. Jewell is a jewel.
Last minute good-byes.
Time to clean up and go home!
Here's to another great Christmas Party! And in the words of Tiny Tim,
"God bless us, every one!"

November Meeting 2013

Barbara and Darlene are holding up Darlene's scrappy quilt. This quilt was made from scraps that Kay gave to Darlene! What an interesting quilt!
Another of Darlene's quilts . . . this time she used the log cabin blocks. Another beauty!
Debbie make this wall handing at a mini-retreat with her Dallas group. Can you believe this, too is the good ole' log cabin block? Very versatile . . .
Cathy is showing a quilt she made from the "Austin Modern Quilt Guild' block exchange. Who would have thought orange and blue would look so awesome!
This is the back of Cathy's 'modern quilt'.

Cathy finished her 'Card Trick' table topper . . . beautiful blues!
Kay is really getting into the autumn spirit! Makes you want to roll around on that quilt. It looks like fall leaves!
Kay made a beautiful table runner to go with the fall quilt!
Our newest member, Loma Alford is ready to quilt! Look at the lovely colors she picked out for our autumn project.
We believe she likes bright colors, just look at her shoes!

First Meeting of Fall 2013

For 'Show and Tell' Kay brought the first quilt she made. Perfect colors and really beautiful. It has been truly loved as it is now rather worn!
This is another of Kay's quilts. These are blocks from the 'Women of the Bible' patterns book. Barbara (on the left) is our official quilt helper!

Billie is working on a Cathedral Windows quilt. It uses up lots of fabric, but turns out so pretty!
This is another of Cathy's 'on-line' quilt projects. In each colored block she will do some very fancy machine quilting. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

This is the wedding quilt Kathy made for her daughter. She used the fabric from the wedding decorations and incorporated them in this black and white beauty.

Darlene made this colorful quilt from scraps she received from Kay! You just can't beat a beautiful scrappy quilt!

Evelyn made some gorgeous place mats. The fabric is simply luscious and will look great on any table. The top fabric is laminated so you just wipe it clean! What a great idea! She made some to fit a square/rectangle table and some to fit a round/oval table.

Machine Quilting Marathon - June 2013

Cathy is in fine form as she explains the finer points of machine quilting.
Kay is certainly concentrating as she listens to Cathy.
Cherri is also listening intently.

Billie is just happy to be here!! What a smile!
Jatana wants to understand everything Cathy is saying.

Short break for 'Show and Tell'. This is Cathy's latest class project. Beautiful colors!
Darlene just finished this beautiful quilt. Cherri is assisting with the presentation.
And now we see the back of the quilt.
Kay was inspired by Cathy to make some 'mug rugs'. Bright and beautiful colors!

All together now - smile with your 'mug rugs'.
Cherri, Kay, Jatana and Kay's beautiful grand-daughter Jakayly concentrating on something???
Cathy and Darlene discussing something I know is really important.
Darlene is offering Cherri some pointers as Cherri tries her hand at machine quilting.
Jakayly is demonstrating her quick method of making pin wheels. Great idea!
Jakayly is working hard on her pin wheels!
I do believe that Cherri is getting the hang of machine quilting.
So is Billie . . .
Another break for 'Show and Tell'. Kay made this quilt for her high school friends to sign.
Jatana leading the group in some stretching exercises. And yes, she was cold! Batting works great if you don't have a sweater.
Kay joins in . . .

Then Jakayly joins in . . .
Evelyn brought a beautiful antique quilt made by her relatives. The handwork on this quilt is awesome!
Another of Evelyn's antique quilts.
Jakayly and her pin wheels!!!
Although Evelyn was a little late, she joined right in machine quilting.
Bea brought her Radiant Star quilt to sew.
