Graceful Quilters Christmas Party 2012

Of course, we first had to eat dinner! We had great food at our local Stagecoach Restaurant. Keep your eyes on Shirley, she is a gift stealer!
Will Barbara, Kathy and Maxine ever get to eat? Another person to watch is Kathy. Later she ends up stealing a gift. YIKES!
Cathy is patiently waiting. Lara is working on her strategy to steal a gift later.
Becky is having lots of fun visiting. Beatrice is wondering where to sit later so she can see and touch ALL of the gifts.
We couldn't have dinner without dessert afterwards. YUMMY!
Kay brought a special project for us to do. Can you guess what it is? Kathy looks like she is working, but she is also working on her gift stealing strategy. Who knew . . .
Jewell, Lynda, Barbara and Becky are working on their project.
Everyone is still working . . . . Kathy is still working on her strategy disguised as working on her project.
Here they are . . . small Christmas boxes!
Aren't they neat?

Our humble little Christmas tree.
Everyone enjoying our delicious snacks. Shirley is contemplating now on how to steal a gift later! You notice she is sitting next to Lara who also steals gifts!
Cathy showing us her new bag. Becky is still visiting!
The gift exchange begins . . . Kay with her Elvis smile . . we didn't know she could do that! She lost that gift later to Beatrice.

Lynda with all of her purple fabric!
Maxine looking through her sewing goodies.

Becky telling Bea to keep her hands off of her gift!

Barbara telling Bea to keep her hands off of her gift, too!

Cathy with her purple fabric. How pretty and nice.
Darlene with her reindeer sleigh.

Jewel got a Rudolph decoration to match the Santa she has.
Sue is now our expert in quilting since she received a quilting handbook. Keep her phone number handy!
Louise has a new purse to take to church.

Oh, here is Beatrice minding her own business, after all. Or does she want to touch Louise's Christmas box? I think she has her eye on it, don't you?
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. And in the words of Tiny Tim from Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", "MAY GOD BLESS US EVERYONE".

Radiant Stars Keep Coming

Billie has completed her Radiant Star quilt top! The colors are so beautiful. This is probably the largest Radiant Star quilt top I have seen! Barbara is our official 'Assistant Quilt Holder'.
Cathy completed a table runner using her newly acquired machine quilting skills, just in time for Fall.

And Still More Radiant Stars and Projects

Sandy has some of her Christmas presents almost finished. Isn't this one cute?
This is Kay's gorgeous Radiant Star quilt. Don't the purple fabrics look great?
Kay is nearly finished with a 'Trip Around the World' quilt in black and white. It is surprising what a dramatic look you can get with just two colors!
Beatrice is modeling a basket that Cathy made in one of the classes she took during the Houston Quilt Festival. Louise is pictured on the left.

Still More Radiant Stars

Cherri has completed her Radiant Star quilt top. Doesn't her star just POP out at you!
After a few changes, Sue has completed her Radiant Star quilt top. Frankly, I didn't think the blue and green would work together, but I stand corrected! It turned out to be another eye-popping beauty from Sue!
Sue and Cherri take a closer look a Sue's gorgeous quilt top!
Kathy, Kay and Billie take a serious look at Kathy's fabric strips. OK Kathy, we need to see a star from you soon!

Halloween Snack-Fest

Since our regular meeting fell on Halloween, we decided to treat ourselves to some treats!
Jewel continues to add borders to her beautiful quilt. The consensus is that this is one of Jewel's best quilts!
Darlene's quilt grew by leaps and bounds. Can you believe she did most of this quilt in fabric she already had? What a beauty!
Cherri (left) has her beautiful star center complete. It should be a stunner when she gets the borders attached. Kathy wanted to take credit for this quilt!
Sue has most of her quilt finished. Don't you just love the color combinations?

The Continuing Saga of our Radiant Stars

Debbie's star is finished - FINALLY! No more set-in corners for her!
After some initial piecing problems, Jewel's star turned out to be a beauty!
You can see Cherri's star in the foreground. Everyone is visiting before Bible Study.
More discussions as Kay offers quilting suggestions.

Radiant Star - Meeting #2

Rhonda is ironing her first set of strips. Way to go, Rhonda!!
After doing a little sewing, then some un-sewing, Sandy is sewing once again! I think she is talking a little, too.
Jewel has lots of strips cut and is sewing away on them!
Kay and Sue discuss Sue's quilt that first wanted to be a baby boy's quilt, but just insisted on being a baby girl's quilt!! And yes, Sue is a closet army private!
Debbie is reading her instruction book and sewing her strips, finally!
Cherri was a little late to the meeting, but look how far she has come on her star - just beautiful! Don't you just love the colors?
